Schiaparelli, 2024

let’s call this poem “allay”

where eyes join you & I in our sorrows

joy’d with pain. ya see, I’m alarms of

death & fear, hoping to cry out

so strong, it’ll heal us both.

All you ever wanted was to love & be loved.

You think about how nobody noticed

your death. How it’s slow

& somber..& somehow I twirl for you

I know

you are afraid of the truth of this world..

ashes ashes

but I like innocence. ya see, I’ve been on

tippy toes for two minutes & I can’t

bring myself to say—

Today I’ve learned,

Cowards [protect] bliss.

However,

this poem’s for you—

what would you like to know?

I heal to focus

rumbling into the details

there’s light,

blue n’ sparkling

in the sweat of my skin. darkness fills the

room, round - the show will be an escape.

I don’t beg

but I serve you—

I was 24 when I died

young, n’ knowledge- able

wet with emotions

killed with pain

like rocks

stabbing at a delicate core

So… if you claim to love me

til death do us part

xx
