Commentary on Take Me With You x Robert Bondara

Choreographed by Robert Bandara, Take Me With You is a piece that embodies the brilliance of simplicity and chaos all at once. Bandara uses a whirlwind of complex movements to simply say, I feel for you.

Despite the apparent theme of coupling, to me, this piece is about individuality. The evolution of the figures unravel through the exchange of the relationship. However, their existences are not defined or limited by it. In fact, through dance, the two successfully embody the journey and outcome of what it means to experience someone. If you notice, both figures grow into the courage of surrendering. Both figures also grow into synchronization, desynchronization, and finally, their own higher expressions of the self before deciding to leave or keep one another.

I won’t say too much because I rather you enjoy the video, but I will say this:

There’s a wisdom in being able to find yourself through your experiences with others. Who do you choose to take with you on your journey of life? Will they stay for now or for forever?

Until next time.

Enjoy! Xoxo
